Valuation

"Valuation" as a term takes on many definitions in the common vernacular.  Businesses and ventures routinely find themselves in a position of needed a "valuation" in order to secure a specific outcome, whether that "outcome" is the sale of business, IRS acceptance of an estate tax return, succession of ownership, or maybe to determine that amount of losses suffered in some tort.  Essentially, "valuation", from a professional perspective, is the product of the use of a standard set of theory and practices, utilization of standard bases of assumptions, and making as appropriate determination of risk.  This product is the indication of what a business, ownership interest, income stream, or perhaps a claim of lost profits is worth in today's dollars.  When a valuation is performed by a qualified and certified valuator, you can be certain that the resulting value determination will be commonly accepted as reasonable by those in the practice of performing such valuations.  At that point, you can rest assured that the result is reasonable and is one that can be used to support prudent decision making.

Our firm has performed valuations for over 20 years.  We have valued closely held businesses, family limited partnerships, value driven estate tax returns, lost profits and wages, business losses, partner buy-ins and buy-outs, to name only a few instances.

Please contact us (chris@clhp.com) to learn more about how we can help you to determine if a valuation is needed and how we would approach a valuation engagement with you.
